For 2014-2015, the Management utility is updated to more easily allow educators to manage classes, rosters, and assignments, while it separates the Management (LMS) utility from the Reports utility.
Reports are now separate from Management
Previously the Management utility served a dual purpose: managing classes and rosters, and tracking student progress.
With the new iLearn program options, important educator feedback, and more advanced views of student progress, all reports are now found in the Reports utility rather than the Management utility. The Management utility no longer includes reports. The reports you used most in previous school years have been updated and enhanced, and many more have been added. You can access all the new reports from the iLearn Hub by clicking Reports. Log in at www.iLearn.com/login and click “Reports.”
Moving the reports from the Management utility allows you to customize and print reports, but also to view data across classes, across an entire school, or across an entire district.
This also separates managing students from reporting student progress.
Some important reports include the updated Highlights report, Activity report, Gaps Chart report. For more information, go to the Support page and click Reports.
Highlights Report:
Previously, with a teacher login, you clicked a class and this report displayed.
This reported in real-time what students were working on, for how much time, whether the student had a progress flag, and other helpful metrics.
An updated and enhanced version of this same report is now found in the Reports site under iLearn Math:
The new version of this report displays the same data and more, and allows you to see it for any program.
Activity Report:
Another report, the Class Activity Summary seen below, is also updated and enhanced.
The updated Activity report is found in Reports under iPASS.
The new Activity report includes even more metrics to track iPASS progress, and allows you to select which fields to display under Options. It also remembers those you select.
Gaps Chart:
The iPASS gaps chart has always been a favorite report for teachers, as it easily and quickly summarizes student progress across an entire class.
The new version of the gaps chart has several enhancements. It allows you to view multiple classes at once, has rollovers for the Unit, and every Chapter (location, title, sequence number). And by popular demand, you can also now print the class Gaps Chart.
Access it by logging in at www.iLearn.com/login, clicking reports, and under iPASS clicking “Class Gaps Chart.”
There are over 60 other reports, many of them new, so if there is a specific report you need assistance finding, please contact us.
Management Interface
For the 2014-2015, the Management utility is updated to give educators a more intuitive design to facilitate administrative tasks.
Below is a teacher view of the new Management utility:
When logging into the Management utility, teachers see their classes, and can click
to view all students registered in the class, or click
to edit class information such as period. Teachers can also create new classes with this button
.
Under Tools at the top right, you can quickly launch the messenger without returning to the iLearn Hub, view student login information, or open the MyQ or iKnow Managers:
When viewing a class of students, teachers will now have a more robust display that shows each student in the class (only once!), each program available to each student, student grade level, and options to edit or remove the student from the class:
To edit a student’s student ID, name, grade, or login information click
next to the student’s name. If a student is in the class as a Virtual View, you’ll need to have the student’s Teacher of Record make the edit.
If you no longer need a student listed in your class, click
next to the student’s name. Don’t worry, this will not delete the student’s account or in any way affect the student’s data. Removing a student will only move the student to another one of your classes, or allow the student to be picked up by another Teacher of Record. If you are the Teacher of Record for a student (the account in the class is not a Virtual View), you will have the following three options.
Students can be removed With Access, No Access, or to another one of your classes.
With Access allows the student to continue in iLearn without a Teacher of Record. Use this option when the student is moving to a class of another teacher in your school. This allows the other teacher to add the student and become the student’s Teacher of Record, while allowing the student to continue in iLearn in the interim.
No Access prohibits a student from continuing in iLearn. Another teacher can add the student and become the Teacher of Record, which will allow the student to continue again in iLearn.
Adding Students
As a teacher, you now have an improved way of adding students to their class.
You can add any student from the school roster. If a student is already under a Teacher of Record the account that is added is a “Virtual View” (perfect for after school learning programs, or students who have multiple math teachers). If the student is not under a Teacher of Record, you can add the student and become the Teacher of Record.
To add a student, open the Management utility, click to “view” a class, and then click
at the top of the student list. This will launch the school roster:
The school roster allows teachers to verify a student already has an account at their school and to easily add the student to their class. (To learn more about Virtual Views navigate to the Virtual View section in “What’s New.”)
District iKnow Assignment
In 2014-2015 the iKnow Manager now allows district administrators to create and assign iKnow assessments to all students in a district, or a select group of students in a district.
To learn more about district assignment of iKnow assessments, go to the main Support page and click “District iKnow” under “What’s New.”
Messenger
The iLearn Messenger has several updates to help teachers more effectively communicate. Teachers can now to send messages to students, entire classes, and iLearn staff. Students can reply, or send a message to any of their teachers.
To learn more about the updates to the Messenger, go to the main Support page and click “Messenger” or the “Management (LMS)” section on the iSupport page.
